Mission Statement

The Basura Bash Planning Organization is a volunteer organization committed to increasing San Antonio's stewardship of the Mission Reach of the San Antonio River through:

Mobilizing volunteers and hosting regular cleanups including the annual Basura Bash.
Providing community education regarding water pollution and natural resource preservation.
Building public/private partnerships for the betterment of our community's environment.

2008 Results Are In!!

The Basura Bash Planning Organization would like to express our sincere appreciation for the support of all those who contributed to the 14th Annual Basura Bash River Clean-Up.

Basura Bash is the largest single-day waterway clean-up in Texas and the only event that collects recyclable waste products. Over the past fourteen years, this event has grown, not only by the number of volunteers participating, but by the number of waterways getting cleaned.

In 2008 the event drew approximately 2,425 volunteer participates in cleaning up the San Antonio River Mission Reach, as well as segments of Alazan Creek, Indian Creek, Leon Creek, Olmos Creek, and the Medina River Natural Area.

Volunteers collected over 25 tons of trash, approximately 3.5 tons of recyclables, and collected 1,614 tires.

Our dedicated Volunteers' continued support and commitment to Basura Bash and keeping Bexar County waterways clean are a large part of our shared success.
