Basura Bash Annual Event

Leon Creek at O.P. Schnabel Park Area

Recycling Resources, Practice and Policies

Basura Bash is committed to responsible recycling. Some materials are too dirty to recycle by the time volunteers retrieve them from the creeks, but we strive to direct as much as possible to local recyclers who donate their services to Basura Bash.

Where do the Recyclable Items we separate from the debris go?
Our Sponsor, GreenStar is providing the services to recycle all the plastic bottle and aluminum cans that the volunteers pick up during the Annual Basura Bash Clean Up

Where can we bring Electronic items to be recycled?
Corona Visions Inc. will be at the Woodlawn Lake Casting Pond to provide electronic recycling services for you and the community. For a detailed list on the items they will be accepting, follow this link. http://www.coronavisions.com/electronics.html

How are the Tires Recycled?
Basura Bash Sponsor
Firestone will donate the tire disposal for the entire clean-up.

All tires are delivered directly to Firestone by our
City of San Antonio Municipal Solid Waste Management Department

Thanks to both Firestone and the City of San Antonio!

Please also see the 'Scrap Tire Program Fact Sheet & FAQs' published by the City of San Antonio Housing & Neighborhood Services

And Metal Wastes?  Are they Recycled?
Yes, larger metal items like car wheels and such are collected and sent to the metal recyclers.

A good source of information for Recycling in San Antonio is the City of San Antonio Solid Waste Management Department Recycling Options and Drop-Off Centers listing.

Our local Keep San Antonio Beautiful and state Keep Texas Beautiful Affiliates of Keep America Beautiful are also very knowledgable about local and regional recycling programs.
